Automous is looking for an experienced and friendly Lead developer / hands-on software architect

We optimize the electricity market participation of large battery storage, renewable generation, datacenter, electric vehicle charging, and renewable heat and power generation assets. We have been selected to the Google Cloud Platform AI startup program - Scale tier.

What you get to work on

  1. Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-based SaaS solutions, primarily using Python
  2. Lead the development and implementation of core platform components and services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
  3. Develop and maintain RESTful APIs for seamless integration with various SaaS platforms
  4. Implement containerization strategies using Docker and orchestrate deployments using scheduling tools such as Docker
  5. Manage and configure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Bicep or Terraform
  6. Collaborate closely with sales leaders, product managers, and engineers to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  7. Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving our development processes
  8. Proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities
  9. Stay up to date with the latest cloud technologies and best practices
  10. Mentor and guide junior engineers
  11. Contribute to the overall technology strategy and roadmap

Capabilities we are looking for

  1. Skills and experience needed to do well in (most of) the work outlined above
  2. Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, knowledge of SDLC and software engineering principles like DRY, SOLID, and cloud design patterns
  3. Experience with cloud platforms: Azure / GCP / AWS
  4. Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS ecosystem
  5. Hands-on experience with Active Directory (Microsoft Entra) and vNets
  6. Experience with Event Brokers, Message Queues, and event driven systems
  7. Cloud storages such as Azure Storage / Amazon S3, Delta Lake experience is a plus
  8. Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps / Jenkins
  9. Experience with monitoring and logging tools like NewRelic / Datadog
  10. Experience with security best practices in cloud environments
  11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  12. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, as well as strong communication and collaboration skills
  13. English is the required working language at Automous, Finnish is a plus

You will likely fit in better, if you have related educational background. But we know a few great developer / architect types who are almost self-educated. The key is continual interest in staying competent.
